I thought it might be nice to give credit to the some of the inspiration behind About Little Things. Aside from a core personality trait (read: incessant need) to pontificate about whatever I genuinely like or recently discovered, I am chronically online and finish the internet at least once a week (minimum).
Here are some of these inspirations (dun dun):
The Perfectly Imperfect Newsletter
is actually perfectly perfect, imo. A twice weekly dose of what cool people are into. For me, it goes straight to the bloodstream.1 They have over 275 posts where folks just.. share stuff.Cool folks. Like Matty Matheson & Carla Lalli Music. Fun Scammers. CAROLINE CALLOWAY, Anna Delvey. Musicians, funny people, writers, etc. It’s a gift to my inbox.
Most notably it is where I first sourced THE PEPPER MILL. The pepper mill! (I have the big one, it also comes in little). This pepper mill changed my life and (presumably) the lives of all those I have gifted it to.
Mommy Blogs of the 2010s
Especially the ones that are still active. Just giving credit where credit is due.
I’ve never met a Friday links roundup on a mommy blog that I haven’t liked. I won’t be exposing myself through recommendations, however.2
Things I Bought and Liked
TIBAL (or @things.i.bought.and.liked on Instagram) posts things she bought.. and.. liked. That’s it. No sponsorships, partnerships or freebies. There are occasional un-influencing posts (things she bought and didn’t like).
It’s more than just lipstick and cuticle cream! My favorite TIBAL day of the year is Giving Tuesday, where she harasses brands and harnesses the power of the internet towards a massive effort to clear classroom lists for teachers in need. This year she reported over $1.2M of giving. RIP Diet Coke.
Honorable Mention: The Reminders App in my iPhone
Not the Notes app (that’s for helping friends craft breakup texts). I’ve been told a few times in my life that it would be “scary” to see the inside of my brain. I do not disagree, but I do capture most of the things I love in the reminders app. I love the ability to include pictures, location reminders, notes and subtasks. It’s a long list and I wish it could be password protected. 😎
This is fun. I hope it stays fun.
xoxo
